Amazon Web Services Bets Billions on Eastern Pennsylvania’s Tech Future

Amazon Web Services is investing $20 Billion in cloud infrastructure in the Keystone State.  The cloud giant’s first two data centers in this expansion will be right here in Eastern Pennsylvania.

Direct LTx agrees wholeheartedly on the strong future of Eastern Pennsylvania’s technology ecosystem.  AWS has a history of investing in areas with significant growth potential and their investments typically attract further interest in the markets they choose for expansion.  Typically, various tech enterprises use location selection from hyperscale providers as a validation of a business market’s desirability and follow along.   We see AWS’ significant expansion in our area through the same prism as they do.  We’re in a vibrant, tech-forward market with extraordinarily successful enterprises in diverse industries.

AWS hasn’t announced a timetable for their investment, and it’s likely that it will be a few years before their data centers are operational.  But both before and after that point, there’s a decent chance your organization can make a better choice for your infrastructure platform.

Public cloud service providers are known for being pricey, and cost control can be a significant issue. That is one of the reasons large numbers of cloud customers are moving workloads out of the cloud into traditional data center environments, some of whom have found their way to Direct LTx.  Most adopt a hybrid colocation model, using speedy cloud onramps for those back office applications that make sense to keep in the public cloud, while keeping their most critical data and applications in a secure, reliable colocation environment.

Over the last 18 years, we have provided Eastern Pennsylvania businesses with IT solutions that provide the best computing environment for their various IT workloads. So, while we welcome AWS as a new neighbor, we still believe that hybrid colocation is the best choice for secure, high performing, yet economical enterprise computing.  We’d love to discuss options with you - contact strategies@directltx.com to find out how you can make the most of your IT staff, hardware, and budget.
