Berks County IU technologists visit Direct LTx
Data centers are making news these days, and many communities are wary of new mega-projects that threaten to disrupt their way of life. But amidst the political debate there is the reality that traditional data centers have long been foundational to nearly everything we do that involves business, communications, media, transactions, and more. Those things ALL require significant activity in an actual, already-built data center, both in the transactions and the service delivery. Albert Boscov knew that, and that’s why he founded Direct LTx two decades ago, to provide organizations in our area with a platform for the digital age.
We’re proud of the way we’ve supported the technology needs of Eastern Pennsylvania organizations in both the business and not-for-profit sectors over the past two decades and were proud to show off our world-class data center here in Reading to a group that is critical to educating our children.
Hosting Ed Tech Professionals: Berks County Intermediate Unit (IU) IT professionals recently held their regular staff meeting here at Direct LTx. The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania established the IU system more than 50 years ago to allow local school districts to pool resources for functions that could be delivered more efficiently and economically via a shared service model across district boundaries. This includes IT services, which these technologists provide to school districts throughout Berks County.
After the IU team’s meeting we provided a tour of the data center, then swung by the Berks County emergency services center, housed at DirectLTx, where other dedicated professionals take 911 calls and dispatch first responders.
The Feedback: Despite their technological expertise, many of our visitors had never been inside a purpose-built data center before, so it was a treat for us to share ours with them. They showed a lot of interest in the multiple layers of resiliency and redundancy for all of our functions. Thoughtful questions abounded and it was a pleasure to have the Berks County IU technology professionals with us.
