Career-Oriented Tech Students Laser-Focused on AI

Data centers are the heartbeat of the internet, and unlike AI, software, or “the cloud,” data centers offer a tangible sense of place.  You always remember the first time you tour a large production data center.  The size, scale, power infrastructure, connectivity, security, intricacy of all the operations etc. combine to provide a valuable experience for those interested in technology.  That’s why we have groups, especially those made up of young people, on visits to the Direct LTx data center, as frequently as possible.

It was notable that on a visit to Direct LTx in early May by the Lebanon Computer Networking & Cybersecurity class that the students showed a completely different focus than what we would have seen from future technologists just a couple of years ago.   They are all about artificial intelligence.  The focus on AI is a shift from young visitors in recent years, who have trended toward cybersecurity, software, and cloud.

Teacher Dan Griffin’s group was extremely interested in the power density requirements of AI, as we shared our high-performance computing background and AI strategy with them.  They sense the opportunities of AI and don’t fear the disruption, nor are they hesitant to learn the skill sets required to leverage AI.  Artificial intelligence and machine learning are the future of technology, and today’s students sense it.

If you have a group of students or professionals interested in visiting a large-scale data center we would love to show you around our home for the internet and AI.  Contact us at strategy@directLTx.com to arrange a tour for your group.
